Ahead of its time: Integrated design with BIM
THE DIGITALISATION OF THE EUROPEAN CONSTRUCTION SECTOR IS RAPIDLY GATHERING MOMENTUM THANKS TO BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING. BUT WHILE THIS PROCESS REPRESENTS A MAJOR CHALLENGE FOR DESIGNERS WHO DELIVER THEIR SERVICES IN A TRADITIONAL WAY ATP ARCHITECTS ENGINEERS – AUSTRIA’S LEADING ARCHITECTURE BRAND – RECOGNIZES IT AS A CLEAR OPPORTUNITY. AND THIS IS NO COINCIDENCE.
The approximately 800 employees of ATP architects engineers are pioneers in applying the most modern design methods and have long been actively promoting digital transformation. And they are convinced that the advance of digitalization and the resulting reduction in the potential for waste will be extraordinarily positive for the sector.
Integrated design – a cultural precondition and an accelerator of innovation
“At ATP we have 40 years’ experience of interdisciplinary cooperation. Today, we design in a Europe-wide network, a corporate structure rooted in an integrated design culture that is a decisive precondition for being able to optimally leverage all the advantages of digitalization in our work”, says ATP CEO Christoph M. Achammer.
An approach that was regarded in the 1970s as unique and unconventional is now proving itself to be an extremely shrewd way of doing business: The integrated design culture, in which architects and engineers sit at the same table from the first day of every project, gives birth to ideas that would simply not be possible under the regime of divided responsibilities. This simultaneous, interdisciplinary design process was developed and matured by ATP across many decades and has been raised to the logical next level since 2012 by the use of BIM.
Advanced knowledge – consistent quality is no coincidence
Digital models enable ATP to simulate the ideas of clients from the earliest project phases. Virtual guided tours through planned buildings offer them a previously unimaginable transparency and, hence, the ability to make much better-informed decisions. The clear presentation of qualities and quantities and costs and timeframes as well as all operational, financing, and exit parameters facilitates efficient and economical processes.
An unconventional pioneering spirit and visionary action demand courage – also in the arena of digitalization. And this courage is one of the qualities for which the ATP brand has become well-known throughout Europe. Aware of the advantages of integrated design, leading players from the European real estate sector put their faith in ATP’s ten integrated design offices across the DACH and CEE Regions. Which means that these clients can also
keep a decisive step ahead of their competition.
